Individual Therapy Services
We offer individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults in a supportive and affirming environment. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person’s unique needs, communication style, and goals. We specialize in working with individuals across the lifespan with neurodivergent identities, such as autism or ADHD, and provide therapy that honors each person’s strengths, sensory needs, and lived experience. Whether someone is seeking therapy for the first time or returning for continued growth, we aim to provide a space where all clients feel safe, seen, and respected.
Therapy does not exist in a vacuum. For children and adolescents, we integrate caregivers into the process and often collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create consistency across settings. For adults, we focus on building insight, practical strategies, and confidence in navigating daily life—whether at home, at work, or in relationships.

Our Approach
We primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the foundation for our therapeutic work with clients. CBT is an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach that helps children and adults understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. It is effective for concerns such as: depression, anxiety and panic attacks, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic pain, selective mutism, and sleep challenges. CBT is designed to be short-term—typically between 6 and 20 sessions—with an emphasis on practical tools that can be used in daily life.
In addition to CBT, our therapists integrate strategies from other evidence-based approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. These may include mindfulness practices, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), narrative exposure therapy, behavioral interventions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This flexible, integrative model allows us to support emotional well-being, coping skills, and self-understanding in a way that is individualized, culturally responsive, and affirming.
For Children and Adolescents
Many keiki experience difficulty coping with big feelings like sadness, anger, worry, or grief—especially when facing challenges such as bullying, family changes, health issues, or struggles at school. Individual therapy provides a safe, supportive space for children and teens to build emotional awareness, develop coping skills, and grow in confidence.
In addition to CBT, we offer several targeted, evidence-based interventions based on the keiki’s individual needs:
-
Zones of Regulation – A child-friendly, CBT-based curriculum that teaches emotional awareness and self-regulation strategies using visual tools and structured lessons. Great for young children with ASD and ADHD.
- Social Thinking Curricula – A playful, structured approach to building social awareness and flexible thinking in children. We incorporate evidence-informed programs like You Are a Social Detective! and Superflex to help children understand social expectations, manage “unexpected” behaviors, and develop strategies for self-regulation in school, home, and peer settings.
- One Session Treatment (OST) – A rapid intervention for specific phobias in children and teens, combining psychoeducation, gradual exposure, and skill-building in a single extended session.
-
Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) – A structured, family-inclusive therapy for children and teens who have experienced trauma, designed to promote healing, resilience, and safe caregiver support.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – A modified form of CBT that supports preteens and teens who struggle with intense emotions, self-harm, or suicidal behaviors, focusing on emotion regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance.
- Response Prevention Treatment (ERP) – An evidence-based therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), tics, and bad habits that helps individuals gradually face fears and resist compulsions in a supportive, structured way. ERP builds confidence and reduces anxiety over time through repeated practice and skill-building.
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) – An evidence-based treatment that strengthens the parent-child relationship and improves behavioral challenges in young children through live coaching. We also offer PCIT for Selective Mutism, a specialized adaptation that supports children in overcoming anxiety around speaking in social settings by gradually building comfort and confidence through caregiver-supported exposures.
- Feeding Therapy – We offer neurodivergent-affirming feeding support for children experiencing sensory-based or behavioral eating challenges, using gentle, pressure-free strategies that prioritize safety, autonomy, and positive mealtime experiences.
Each therapy plan is customized to your child’s developmental stage, strengths, and goals. Collaboration with caregivers and schools is integrated whenever appropriate to support lasting change across environments.
Telehealth Therapy
We offer individual therapy via secure telehealth for clients across the state of Hawaiʻi. Telehealth allows us to provide flexible, accessible care—whether you’re on a neighboring island, in a rural area, or simply prefer the comfort of home. Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform and are often just as effective as in-person therapy. For children and teens, we actively partner with caregivers to ensure sessions are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and supported by routines at home. If you’re unsure whether telehealth is a good fit, we’re happy to discuss it during a free consultation.
